19560807 City Council MinutesAugust 7, 1956 he Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding: The -roll -call showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Cloud, Bishop, Steed and Sommerseth. " The water collectors and Treasurers reports were read to the Council. Three bids were received for Storm Sewers, which are to be installed in conjunction with L. I. D. #77. The bid from S;zpetier Construction Co., for $142059.00, one from Thorburn & Logozo for $13,936.00 and Frank Coluccio for 611.827.80. Three bids were received for L. I. D. 77 for the improvement of Seventh Ave., Daley, ,Sprague, Carpers st. and Tenth Avenue No. One bids from Associated Sand & Gravel in the amount of ,675,621.00, Earl Joplin for $63.626.00 and "lashington Asphalt for $62, 78 O- One bid was received for L. I. D. 76 for paving the alley from Main to Bell street between Sunset avenue and.Second avenue. The bid from Earl Joplin for $827.50. The was also the night set for the hearing on the sewer for Cedar Street east of Ninth Avenue. Therebeing no protests against the improvement a motion was made by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Sommerseth that Ordinance No. 682, creating Local Improvement District #78 be passed. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that the open bids for the improvement of Cedar -Street/September 4. Motion carried. Upon recommendation from the water committee and a motion made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud to accept the low bid for the Storm Sewer of Frank Coluccio, for $11,827.80. Motion carried. Upon recommendation from the street committee a motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Steed that the bids for street work be tabled until Friday night August 10, at a recessed meeting. Motion carried. Councilman Cloud was authorized to bring in more information in regards to the sign and bill boards. Attorney Holte reported that the Contract with the School district for the sewer line ''tb the new Hi School is read for signing. r + P� y gning. The contract is for the school District '� 'pay $1500 next year, then the next year they ,rill pay 10 cents per pupil per day. Councilman Tustin chairman of the water committee reported the water line on Third Avenue South has been installed and the service connections i.-i the Thomas Plat have.been made. A motion was made by councilman Bishop and seconded by councilman Talen that the bills as approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants b e drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. Mayor Maxwell was intructed to write a letter to Engineer Reid to proceed with the plans for the Sewer Disposal plant. August 101, 1956 The Council met for the recessed meeting with Councilman Kincaid serving as Mayor proFtem.. and Councilman Talen taking the minutes of the meeting in.the absence of the City Clerk. with the councilmen Cloud, Talen, Kincaid, Steed and Sommerseth present. After some discussion and negiotation with the bidder, Washington Asphalt Co., the lowest biddrer, the bid was cut from $62,78050 to $58..488.50. A motion was made by Councilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Oeu� Sommerseth that we accept the new rexised and lowered bid of Washington Asphalt Co., in the amount of $58,488.50 for the street improvement L. I. D. #77. Motion carried. A'motion was made by councilman Cloud and seconded by Councilman Steed that we accept the bid of Earl Joplin for paving the alley L. I.- D. #76 in the amount of $827.50. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded- by Councilman Steed that the performane bond for the alley paving for L. I. D. #76 be waived. Motion carried.
