Three bids were received for Public Liability Insurance for the City of Edmonds, <br />Frederickson Realty for $1,106.442 Louis Talen, $1,876.89, and Hubbard Insurance <br />$1,145.57. The award for the insurance will be made at the next council meeting. <br />Five bids were received for a police car, Walsh -Platt Motors, for a Plymoutth V-8 <br />4 door sedan, less Federal Tax, $2049.16, and a bid for a Dodge V-8, 4 door sedan, <br />less federal tax, $2618.50. A bid from Hopper Chevrolet Co., for a chevrolet car, <br />less federal tax, $2395.35: Bid from Kennedy Motors, for a Plymouth v-8 4 door Sedan <br />not including tax $2408.70: with an alternate bid of $2466.65. A bid from Edmonds <br />Motor Co., for a Ford Custom V-8 $2550.00 less Federal Tax with an alternate bid <br />of $2625. less Federal Tax. A Bid from Nash Motors, with a total delivery price of <br />$2220.36. The bidsi*ere turnedaoicehotbhth©oaommlttee for consideration. The <br />Committee came back to the Council with two bids, one from Hopper Chevrolet co., <br />for 2395.35, and Walsh -Matt Motors for a Plymouth car in the.amount of $2049.16. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Steed that we accept <br />the bid from Valsh Motors for a Plymouth car in the amount of $2049.16 plyts sales <br />tax. Motion carried. <br />Ajicos)ttoff$70,,00 was set and authorized by the council for laying of culvert and <br />)bulldozing and filling of Ninth Avenue North from Sprague to the gulch. A motion <br />was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that Supt. Lawson <br />be authorized to proceed with the work as outlined for Ninth avenue. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Steed that <br />avariance to use cedar siding above the brick veneer on a duplex at Third and Dayton <br />street be granted., subject to a requested letter. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that the <br />date for hearing on Assessment Roll L. I. D. #76 be set for February 5. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that the <br />date for hearing on Assessment Roll L781. D. #78 be set for February 5. Motion carried. <br />In regards to completing the work on L. I. D. #77, Attorney Holte recommenced .that <br />we close the L. I. D. and enter into a contract with�the contractor and double the <br />amount for a bond, for the uncompleted work. A motion was made by Councilman <br />K'ineaidand seconded by Councilman Tuson that L. I. D. #7? be closed and the dinal <br />Assessment roll be made up, and the date for ahearing on the assessment roll be <br />set for February 19. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that Attorney <br />Holte and Engineer Reid make up a modification of contract with W'a`shington,Asphalt Co., <br />L. I. D..#77, for completion of work, including a bond for one year after acceptance <br />of work by the City.. Motion carried., <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson-and seconded by Councilman Sommerseth that <br />the Engineer estimate #4 be corrected on the amount due the contractor from $29,137,37 <br />to $19,400.70 plus the amount due The Engineer of $2300,00, for work on L. I. D. #77, <br />and interest bearing warrant #5 be issued to Grande &. Co., Inc for $21,700.70. Motion <br />Carried. . <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Bishop that the <br />bills as approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the <br />proper funds. Clerk `Mayor <br />Januar 5, i957 <br />The Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The roll call <br />showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Kincaid, Cloud and sommerseth. <br />The Treasurers report for December was read to the Council.,. <br />Mayor Maxwell read a letter of resignation from Warren A. Bishop,to the Council. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud to accept the <br />resignation and Mayor Maxwell is,to write a letter of accommodation to Mr. Bishop. <br />Motion carried. <br />A letter was read from Molly Hootman, secretary of the Edmonds Coterie Club, <br />recommending that a law be enacted to control "Jay Walking" in the City of Edmonds. <br />This was referred to Attorney Holte. <br />A letter from H. E. Carpenter, 'Was. read`i to': tfie-L•council. He asks for a permit to <br />operate a taxi cab in Edmonds.
