A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Cloud <br />that Mayor Maxwell, Attorney Holte and Chairman of the Street Committee enter <br />into negiotations with'the Church of God and adjacent property owners for the <br />proposed stheet right-of-way. Motion carried. <br />Kincaid <br />CouncilmanKrecommended that Sunset Avenue from Casper street to Main street <br />be posted as to load limit. <br />There bei g no further b�diness the meeting adjourned. <br />City',,, Cl erk Mayor <br />February 5, 1957 <br />The Council met for its regular session with Mayor -Maxwell presiding. The roll <br />call showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Kincaid, Cloud, Steed, Roy Sorensen <br />took his Oath of Office for councilman First Ward. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that Thomas <br />Purton be elected Councilman of Third Ward to fill the unexpired term of Warren Bishop. <br />Motion carried. <br />Three bids were received for the'six inch -cast Iron, mechanical joint pipe. Ohe from <br />Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co., for $1.985 per foot, with a total of U764.00, <br />on bid from U. S. Pipe & Foundry Co., at a price of $1.965 per foot, total of $4716., <br />and the Pacific ti,'ater Works Supply,*did not bid. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud that we accept the bid from United States Pipe & <br />Foundry Co, delivery to be mdde within ten days, after receipt of order. Motion carried. <br />As Mr. H. E. Carpenter has met all the requirements for a taxi -cab license a motion <br />was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman"Kincaid that he be granted <br />a.license, to be operated from Fourth and Edmonds Street. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Maxwell made the following appointments to the Board of Adjustments, Rev. Beal, <br />for a two year term, Geroge Hatch, four year term, C. W. Sheppard, three year term. <br />Also appointments on the planning commission were made by Mayor Maxwell, they are as <br />follows; bne year term, Herman Sater, Erven Hopper, Donald Tuson, and Rev. Raymond <br />Proudfoot. Two year term, Larry Hubbard, Alton Plillips, Sproule McGinness, and Paul <br />Map,his. Three year term Al Holte, Howard*SitYierkarid, Don McGibbon and Bob Blackburn. <br />A motion wasa.made b ouncilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Sorensen that these <br />appointments o anuary first be c onfirmed. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Sorensen and seconded by Councilman Cloud that Resolution <br />No. 25, which states that the City of Edmonds favors a permissive sales Tax limited to <br />two-thirds of one per cent,'and hgreby urges our legislative representatives to enact <br />such a low. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and -seconded by Councilman Sorensen that Attorney <br />Holte mail copies of Resolutiin No. 25 to our Representatives and Senators, and one to <br />our representative in the Governor's Office. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that Mayor <br />Maxwell be authorized to sign the agreement between Alderwood Water District and the <br />City of Edmonds; pretaihing to our taking over 54 of their customers, now inside the <br />City of Edmonds. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Steed that the new <br />hearing date for the North Edmonds sewer be set for March 5. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Hunger came before the council in regards to having a server installing in his <br />plat. Councilman Kincaid stated he feels the City cannot finance sewers on these plats <br />that come in. A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman <br />Sorensen that Resolution of Intention,,No.. 128, for the installation of a sewer be <br />passed and the date for hearing on the preliminary assessment roll be set for March 5. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman ftsonid,and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that the <br />final Plat of Monger Addition #5 be approved subj�ct'to the final checking of the <br />cast iron pipe to be installed, by our City Engineer. Motion carried. <br />Three bids for the moving of dirt on Ninth Avenue North'of Main street were received, <br />Gordon St. John bid is for $1055, J. Kamp, bid for $729.75, and Pat McGill bid $1250. <br />A motion was riade by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that Mayor <br />Maxwell be authorizedir,to have the work done, not of exceed $1000.00. Motion carried. <br />A bid of $5, for the removal of two buildings on Dayton street below Third Avenue was <br />receivedfY-om F. S. Bolton. This matter was tabled until our next council meeting. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid that the problrem.of Jay Walking be tabled. <br />C <br />1 <br />
