• <br />March 159 1960 <br />Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem Tuson, with Councilmen Lambe, Christensen,.Simpson, <br />Sorensen, and Kincaid present. <br />Bids were opened on the A ton pick-up truck for the Street Dept. They were: <br />Campbell -Blume Chevrolet $1998.61 + tax <br />Edmonds Motor Co. 2012.81 + tax <br />A motion was made by Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Lambe that the City accept <br />the bid of Campbell -Blume Chevrolet in the amount of $1998.61 + tax for the purchase of the <br />pick-up truck. Motion carried. <br />Bids were opened on -LID #99, 5 corners sewers. They were: <br />Shoreline Construction Co. <br />$39,587.85 <br />Superior Construction Co. <br />439590.00 <br />Harold Kaeser Co. <br />31,489.00 <br />Blossom Bros. Logging & Constr. Co. <br />37,340.00 <br />Walters Construction Co. <br />36,626.00 <br />Hanson Construction Co. <br />40,448.00 <br />Deer Construction Co. <br />389247.50 <br />Matt Malaspina & Co., Inc. <br />37065.99 <br />Hale Construction Co. <br />299393.00 <br />Stadler Construction <br />36,215.00 <br />After study <br />and recommendation by the Engineer, a motion wqs <br />made by Councilman <br />Lambe, seconded <br />by Councilman <br />Kincaid that the City accept the bid of the Hale Construction Co. <br />in the amount of <br />$29,393.00 on <br />LID #99 and authorize the mayor to enter into <br />contract with them. <br />Motion carried. <br />• A letter was <br />received from Mr. Cecil Midkiff concerning the <br />cut on his property, <br />and this was <br />referred to <br />the Engineer and Supervisor for investigation and a report at the next meeting. <br />Mr. Sorensen presented the report from the Committee studying the Garbage situation, and after <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Kincaid, seconded by Councilman Sorensen that the <br />Attorney be instructed to draw up a license Ordinance to become effective June, 1960, for the <br />licensing of the garbage collectors, on the basis of the recommendation of the Garbage Committee. <br />The Ordinance to be submitted in rough draft for Council study. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Sorensen, seconded by Councilman Lambe that Ordinance #809 be <br />passed, changing the positions of City Clerk and City Attorney from elective to appointive, and <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />It was moved by Councilman Lambe, seconded by Councilman Simpson that the Mayor's appointment of <br />William Phillips to the Park Board be confirmed. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Lawson was authorized by the City Council to investigate the statue of the Codification of <br />the Edmonds City Ordinances by the Book Publishing Co. s <br />There was no further business, and the meeting adjourned. <br />City Clerk or <br />April 5, 1960 <br />• Regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Maxwell with Councilmen Lambe, Tuson, Christensen, <br />Simpson, Sorensen and Kincaid present. <br />A letter of resignation from the City Council was read from Don McGibbon and accepted with regret <br />by Mayor Maxwell, who then appointed Harve Harrison to fill the unexpired term until the regular <br />council takes office in June. This was put into the form of a motion by Councilman Christensen <br />and seconded by Councilman Tuson. Motion carried. <br />The Oath <br />of Office was administered to Mr. Harrison by Attorney Bennett. <br />Hearing was <br />held on the proposed vacation of a portion of 101' St. S.E. at the <br />proposed new <br />hospital <br />site. A motion was made by Councilman Tuson, seconded by Councilman <br />Christensen <br />that Ordinance <br />#810 be passedi vacating certain portions of 101' St±eet S. E. <br />Motion carried. <br />In answer <br />to a request from the Suburban Transportation Co. a motion was made <br />by Councilman <br />Kincaid, <br />seconded by Councilman Tuson that a bus zone be established from 51L <br />approximately 60 Ft. <br />E. on the <br />S. side of Dayton Street. Motion carried. <br />A request <br />for street lights was referred to Mr. Lawson, to contact the PUD for <br />a proposal to be <br />submitted <br />to the council. , <br />A request <br />to widen the entrance to Bell Street from Olympic Ave. was referred <br />to Mr. Lawson for <br />investigation <br />and a report at the next meeting. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid, seconded by Councilman Sorensen that the engineer be <br />instructed to proceed immediately after receiving infomal bids with the replacement and repair <br />of the asphalt on 3rd Ave. between Alder & Howell Way as damaged by recent construction.
