Motion was made by Councilman Simpson, seconded by Councilman Christensen to authorize Mayon to <br />sign necessary documents to implement the acceptance of property involved in the Civic Center <br />site. Motion carried. <br />t <br />There was no further business and the meeting adjourned. <br />C ty Cler listing) <br />February 79 1961 <br />Regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Maxwell with all councilmen present except Tuson <br />and Simpson. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Lambe, seconded by Councilman Sorensen to pass Ordinance #866, <br />accepting the bid on Fire Station ,-#2 bonds from Foster & Marshall and the Pacific National <br />Bank. Motion carried. <br />It was moved by Councilman Slye, seconded by Councilman Christensen that Ordinance #867 bb <br />passed, accepting the bid on the Civic Center Bonds from Seattle First National Bank and the <br />Pacific Northwest Co. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Slye, seconded by Councilman Lambe that Ordinance ;#868 be - <br />passed, cash prepayment notice on LID;#102. Motion carried. <br />A Petition had been received for vacation of the alley N. of Maple and E. of 101' Ave. It was <br />the recommendation of the Street Committee that the City not vacate the alley, and a motion <br />was made by Councilman Sorensen, seconded by Councilman Slye that the request for the vacation <br />of the alley N. of 11a.ple and E. of 1Otb Ave. be denied. Motion carried. <br />It was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Councilman Slye th%t the Mayor be <br />authorized to enter into contract with the Humane Education Society of Snohomish County for <br />dog control. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Maxwell appointed Chet Bennett Civil Defense Director of the City of Edmonds, and a <br />motion was made by Councilman Slye, seconded by Councilman Lambe to confirm the Mayor's <br />appointment. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Maxwell made the appointments of Larry Hubbard from the Planning Commission and Harve <br />Harrison from the Council as members representing the City of Edmonds on the Regional Joint <br />Planning Council. <br />After discussion and a report from the Committee who had studied the situation, a motion was <br />made by Councilman Sorensen, seconded by Councilman Lambe that the Attorney be instructed to <br />draw up an Ordinance to license the garbage collectors in the City of Edmonds. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Sorensen to take the <br />necessary steps to release the easement across the former Morrison property on 06 Street. <br />Motion carried. <br />It was moved by Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Lambe that the Final Plat of <br />Hunter's Addition be approved. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Harrison, seconded by Councilman Lambe that the Final Plat of <br />Sunset Acres be approved. Motion carried. <br />A request to open 71� Avenue between Fir and Elm was received from Bill King, and it was <br />recommended by the City Engineer that permission be granted. This resulted in a motion <br />made by Councilman Sorensen, seconded by Councilman Christensen that the Engineer be <br />authorized to set the grade on 71� Ave. from Elm to Fir. Motion carried. <br />It was then moved by Councilman Slye, seconded by Councilman Sorensen that Bill King be <br />authorized to proceed with the opening of 7th from Fir to Elm, under the supervision of the <br />City Engineer. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Slye, seconded by Councilman Christensen that the Treasurer <br />be authorized to issue a cash warrant up to 030,000.00 for further purchase of property for <br />the Civic Center. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Slye, seconded by Councilman Sorensen that Resolution 452 be <br />passed, petitioning the Washington State Legislature to allow retaining of Police Courts at <br />the option of the cities.
