Background/History
Due to a resignation, Architectural Design Board position #6 - layman opened-up at the end of 2017. The
Planning Department placed a request for candidates notice in the local media. They received a total of
three applications. Mayor Earling interviewed all three candidates.
Staff Recommendation
Recommending appointment of Joshua Shope to ADB position #6 - layman.
Narrative
Mayor Earling met with Joshua to discuss his qualifications and ability to serve on the ADB. Mayor
Earling feels confident that Joshua will make an excellent addition to the Board and is recommending his
appointment.

The Historic Preservation Commission received two applications for open positions on the Commission.
Mayor Earling interviewed both candidates and is moving forward with the appointment process for
both.
Staff Recommendation
Recommending appointment of Laura Johnson to position #9 - citizen of the Historic Preservation
Commission.
Narrative
Mayor Earling met with Laura to discuss her qualifications and ability to serve on the HPC. Mayor Earling
feels Laura has the skills, interest and motivation to make her a good candidate for the HPC.
