Background/History
Position #1 on the Arts Commission was vacated at the end of 2019 due to a retirement. The position
was advertised and candidate Lisa Palmatier was chosen by the Commission to be interviewed by Mayor
Nelson. Appointments to the Commission are made by the Mayor subject to council confirmation and
are for a term of 4 years with a 2-term limit.
Staff Recommendation
Interview candidate Lisa Palmatier for confirmation of appointment to Position #1 on the Arts
Commission.
Narrative
Position #1 is a "Visual Arts" position. The position was advertised with the intention of finding a
candidate who had experience with visual art exhibits and could assist with rotating exhibits. Mayor
Nelson interviewed candidate Lisa Palmatier and feels she has the necessary skills to fill this position and
provide a good balance of talent on the Commission.

am interested in serving on the Edmonds Arts Commission. My family is from
Edmonds and I have been a resident on and off for most of my life and a
continuous resident for the past 25 years.
I have a B.A. in Visual Art from the University of Washington and was an
elementary school art teacher for 18 years. Currently I work for the Shoreline -
Lake Forest Park Arts Council as the Gallery Manager.
I have served on numerous boards over the years including the Edmonds Arts
Festival Foundation, Edmonds Arts Festival (Director of Juried Art and Kids
Creative Corner) and the Edmonds Cemetery Board.
